About TAG 443
TAG443 College was launched with 160 learners from the surrounding Western Cape areas.
1 May 2006: the Phakamani project
The Phakamani project started working with 160 learners. They were all introduced to different areas of arts, crafts and design, and the Department of Social Services oversaw the project. Learners took part in an intensive foundation programme in arts and crafts:
- Pottery and Clay Moulding and Design
- Art and Fabric Painting
- Arts and Crafts
- Scale and measurement
- Woodworking
- Photography
Designers, architects and photographers all contributed to this initiative.
1 March 2007: the CADlab
The Academy of Guilds (TAG443) launched the CADlab with courses in AutoCAD. TAG443 College received its first accreditation as a training provider from the MAPPP SETA (Sector Education and Training Authority) for the Further Education and Training Certificate in Design Foundation (NQF 4).
In 2008 the scope was extended to include the National Certificate in Design Techniques (NQF 5).
